Investing in the Next Generation
The Valley CiDS Quest Team have been bringing a little bit of winter to the summer holidays with their Polar Explorers Holiday Clubs, welcoming children aged 5 to 11 for three days of fun, creativity and adventure.
Throughout August, the team took Polar Explorers to Crich Glebe Community Centre, Heanor Baptist Church and Codnor Methodist Church, filling each venue with games, songs, crafts, Bible stories and plenty of clues for the children to discover along the way.
Despite some very warm summer weather outside, inside it was a different story as the children embarked on their Polar Explorers adventure. There was even a snow machine to help transform summer into winter and add to the excitement!
At the heart of each holiday club was the opportunity for children to explore the Christian message in a fun, creative and engaging way. Through the different activities and Bible stories, the Quest Team shared the message that God is real, that God loves every single one of us and that God’s love is for everyone.
The clubs are also an opportunity for the team to build relationships with children and families in the communities where Valley CiDS works, creating a welcoming environment where children can have fun, make friends and explore their spirituality.
Making three weeks of holiday clubs happen takes a real team effort. Alongside the Quest Team and the volunteers who gave their time and energy to make each club possible, there was plenty of support from across Valley CiDS.
Our Lighthouse Charity Shops Distribution Hub team helped transport the equipment needed from venue to venue, while Valley CiDS trustees also visited the clubs to meet the team, see the activities in action and experience some of the fun for themselves.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this summer’s Polar Explorers Holiday Clubs possible, and especially to the Quest Team and volunteers for another fantastic few weeks of adventures, fun and sharing God’s love with children across our local communities.
