A huge congratulations to our Premises & Facilities Manager, Connor McCree, who has completed an incredible endurance challenge to raise money for the Turner Farm Big Build Project.

Connor recently took on the Fit Farm Backyard Ultra in Papplewick, Nottingham. The challenge involved completing a 4.167-mile (6.706 km) loop every hour, on the hour, with runners continuing until they could go no further.
On the day, with an early start and temperatures reaching 30°C, Connor completed seven full laps, running for seven hours, before completing an additional 2km of the eighth lap. The extreme heat made the challenge incredibly demanding, not just for Connor but also for experienced long-distance runners who regularly take on endurance challenges like this. Eventually, the conditions took their toll, and Connor was unable to continue.
In total, Connor ran an incredible 49km – the equivalent of more than a marathon and a half!
Having never even run a half marathon before, this was an incredible achievement, and Connor was understandably delighted with what he managed to accomplish, particularly given the extreme conditions.
So far, Connor has raised just short of £400 towards the Turner Farm Big Build Project, which will help us as we work towards creating a vocational learning centre at Turner Farm for our alternative education provision for young people.
Connor isn’t stopping there! He has already started planning his next fundraising challenges, including a half marathon in August, an Inflatable 5K in September and, in October, either running or cycling between all our Lighthouse Charity Shops from The Polygon Centre, Alfreton.
A huge congratulations to Connor on an incredible achievement and thank you for going the extra mile to support the Turner Farm Big Build Project!
