Last month, we, the Lighthouse Charity Shop team from New Mills had a stall at The Sheepdog Trials in Hayfield. We were there for both the Saturday and the Sunday, and over the two days we took a brilliant total of £379.

There were lots of people interested in finding out who we are and what Valley CIDS and the Lighthouse Shops are all about, so it was definitely worth while.

There were lots of craft stalls and speciality food stalls, along with the usual dog competitions and tug of war etc.

There was also a stall selling cakes for Hollies Footprint, which is a charity that was recently set up in memory of Holly Swainson who volunteered here at New Mills. She was a beautiful 15 year old young lady who died  from a sudden severe asthmatic event which she had never had before, having only experienced only mild asthma up until that time. The charity is supporting music therapy in schools in the area, which is something Hollie was two days away from volunteering for at Chapel School.

We would like to thank Leonnie, our star volunteer who worked both days, and Fran and Dave and all the other shops for your support with the Sheepdog Trials.
