Eight months ago, Matti started as an intern with Meadowhead Christian Fellowship, and began a placement with the Valley CIDS Children's Team.

Matti said "At Valley CIDS, I work with children in schools where we do lunch time clubs, after school clubs and assemblies. This term I will be leading assemblies myself. I am really enjoying my time at Valley CIDS and I feel I can see what I would like to do in my future."

Matti has started teaching a basketball class and sports lesson where children learn new sporting skills, along with Christian values.

The Children's Team has access to 75 schools in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, and they run a monthly discipleship class and residential weekends for young people who are becoming Christians.

What's next? The Children's Team at Valley CIDS has invited Matti to take a further year of internship with them (his placement being with Meadowhead Christian Fellowship), and Matti will have the opportunity to undertake take a training course - Aurora Youth and Children's Ministry Training - to continue to develop his skills In Children's Ministry.

The course take place in Rotherham and runs in partnership with Cliff College. (If you would like to know more, you can visit their website - www.auroratraining.org.uk)

Some funding has already been secured to pay for Matti's internship at Valley CIDS, but he still needs approximately £300 per month to help put these plans into action.

If you would like to know more, or to help finance Matti's internship, please contact the Children's Team via [email protected] and they will be more than happy to talk to you.

Matti said "It's been an amazing eight months, as I have had new challenges and I feel like I am growing in my experience in working with children and youth, which is great."
