From November 2014, Derby City Centre Chaplaincy will be undertaking a pilot project within the Derby City Centre and Chaddesden Lighthouse Charity Shops.

Derby City Centre Chaplaincy is an organisation which provides a listening ear and builds bridges of understanding and trust between industry faith, commerce and society.

Specifically, a Chaplain is a person who offers confidential, non-judgemental support about all aspect of life and work. Chaplains are motivated by the Christian faith from which they come to care for people and communities. They are not there to preach but to offer care and comfort and a listening ear. This service will be available to all of the staff and volunteers who work at the Derby City Centre and Chaddesden Lighthouse Charity Shops.

Chaplain Elaine will visit the two shops with Retail Area Manager Lesley to introduce herself, and will then pop in on a regular basis to see if anyone would like to talk to her.

The pilot scheme will run until the end of February, and if it has been successful, it will be rolled out to further Lighthouse Charity Shops and possibly other parts of the Valley CIDS family.
